Land of Bones reclaims the sound and imagery of the old spaghetti western, turning it toward the story that was so often left untold. Through an Indigenous voice, Calling Rivers traces the loss of the buffalo, the taking of the land, and the breaking of a way of life bound closely to both. What remains is a song of memory, survival, and the echoes still carried across the plains.

Calling Rivers
Calling Rivers is the solo project of Wade Lavallee, a Nêhiyaw artist from Kahkewistahaw First Nation who grew up in Regina and carries a strong connection to the Qu’Appelle Valley. His songs are rooted in land, memory, history and the things we carry forward.
Wade is an award-nominated performer who has toured and performed internationally with KOYOT. His work also reaches into theatre. He wrote the closing ballad for SkinHead in Nêhiyawêwin, bringing language and story into another kind of space.
Outside of his own music, Wade is a co-founder of Nôhcimihk Lands & Wellness Collective, a non-profit focused on getting Indigenous people back on the land through camps, guided experiences, cultural and land-based teachings, youth mentorship and creative programming. Music is part of that work too, used as a way to build confidence, connection and wellness through guitar, bass, vocals, songwriting, recording and production. At the heart of Nôhcimihk is creating more opportunities for people, especially youth, to spend time on the land, learn from one another and strengthen their relationships with culture, community and place.
Calling Rivers is connected to all of that. It reflects Wade’s commitment to community, learning the language, caring for the land and passing knowledge on. The music is part of the same journey.
